Maundy Thursday is also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday. It is celebrated by Christians all over the world.
It honors the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles in Jerusalem.
Maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum, meaning command, used in the ceremony of the washing of the feet which forms part of some church services.
According to St John’s gospel, before the Last Supper Jesus washed his followers’ feet to show his humility.
He then said: “A new commandment I give unto you: that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:4
The Maundy Thursday Special service will be held in our Church on Thursday, 18th April and will be a Holy Communion service. Request all our church members to come and take part in the fellowship
